History

Earlier this year the Boundaries Commission carried out a proposed review of the five constituencies in Fife.

These constituencies are required to be in balance regards numbers of electorate.

North East Fife constituency showed an increase in numbers over the other constituencies (in particular Glenrothes and Mid Fife). The Commission believes these imbalances need to be addressed.

They therefore proposed to move Ward 22 (Leven, Kennoway and Largo) into Glenrothes and Mid Fife.

Reaction

The communities of Upper and Lower Largo and Lundin Links immediately made their opposition clear.

The campaign LARGOINEF was formed and hundreds of leaflets and car stickers were distributed.

A petition raised by the community council delivered an astonishing 652 signatures � nearly every person on the electoral list! Individual objections at 110 exceeded the number required to trigger a local enquiry.

Our local representative Councillor Marilyn Whitehead added her support to the campaign making her objections to the plan clear.

Action now

We have won the right to a local inquiry but TIME IS SHORT!!!!!

The inquiry will take place on 15 � 16 September 2008 at Council Chambers, Fife House, Glenrothes starting at 10.00 am.

What can we do?

• Make your presence felt by attending the inquiry � it is open to all members of the public -if you wish to make an oral submission you can register your intention at the meeting.
• Show your support for LARGOINEF � give you view through LARGOINEF by emailing, texting or writing to us.
• Submit alternative proposals � any new suggestions can be submitted to the enquiry � send them to us or submit directly
• Help LARGOINEF to raise the funds necessary to employ professional advice in making our presentations to the enquiry.
